The Turkish Civil Code is Law No. 4721, adopted by the Turkish Grand National Assembly on November 22, 2001 and entered into force on January 1, 2002.
It repealed the Turkish Code of Civil Law No. 743 dated February 17, 1926.
It is the main law in Turkey that contains rules on civil law.
It consists of five books, namely law of persons, family law, law of inheritance, law of property and law of obligations, and a total of 1030 articles, excluding the initial provisions.
