Information regarding customs clearance procedures for shipments arriving in the name of individuals

  • In order for your shipment to be delivered to you, you must initiate official customs clearance procedures.

  • For customs clearance procedures, requests for return to the country of origin, and bonded transit requests, we kindly ask you to contact our Customs Customer Service team by dialing 444 00 40 and pressing 3.

  • For your shipment’s first arrival point in Istanbul by DHL Express, the following procedures can be carried out.
    If you wish to request any of these procedures; please do not use the e-document system, do not create documents electronically or have them collected.

  • With certain amendments to articles of the Customs Law, the limit for simplified customs processing for individuals has been reduced from 150 Euros to 30 Euros.

  • For shipments arriving in the name of an individual for personal use, which are not prohibited and do not exceed 30 Euros and 30 kg, customs procedures can be carried out by DHL Express through a Simplified Customs Declaration (BGB).
    Under these procedures, for shipments delivered on a DTU basis, only taxes and official charges payable to the government will be collected.
    For shipments arriving on a DTP basis, the applicable taxes can be charged back overseas.
    Please do not make any payment before customs clearance procedures.

  • If the consignment indicates the customs billing service as DTP or, in other words, if the party responsible for paying the customs duties at the destination is designated as the shipper, for shipments valued between 30 – 1500 Euros, under 30 kg, non-prohibited/restricted, and with customs brokerage services provided by a customs brokerage firm authorized by DHL, all customs expenses including taxes, fees, duties, Tareks fees, cultural fund fees, per diem, documentation service charges, customs clearance service fees, storage (ardiye), terminal handling fees, and inspection fees may be charged back overseas.

  • Within the scope of simplified customs procedures for individuals, only 5 shipments can be imported in the same month.
    On the same day, for shipments arriving to the same individual, the total value must not exceed 30 Euros or the total weight must not exceed 30 kg.
    For all shipments exceeding this limit that require customs clearance, a detailed import declaration must be made.

Important Information

  • Customs Customer Service is available on weekdays between 08:00-17:15.
    For shipments arriving on Saturday, you may contact Customs Customer Service starting from the following Monday.

  • E-document (E-evrak): By creating "Customs Clearance Documents" electronically or having them delivered to your customs broker/yourself, you assume responsibility for the customs clearance, delivery, or return of your goods.

  • For your non-DTP import procedures, the Terminal Service Fee is 1350 TL (including VAT).
    When your customs declaration procedures are completed, for your terminal service fee and storage (ardiye) fee payments, please write your consignment number at the very beginning of the explanation section of your bank payment slip.

Important: If you have had customs procedures performed by DHL Express, please do not make any payment unless you have been informed to do so.
